I love my Instant Pot! I do believe that it’s important for moms to have gadgets that are not only easy to use but are practical as well. This is one of my all-time favorite gadgets to use to prepare Instant Pot recipes that are quick and easy to prepare. I referred to this on my blog post Gadgets That Are Helpful For Moms.
Do you have instant pot recipes to share? Please feel free to also share your own ideas for Instant Pot recipes that you may have tried, or ask your questions or concerns below. I will be happy to help you!
If you have not gotten an Instant Pot as yet, I am going to say, you’re missing out. The reason is that I know we were conditioned to spend a lot of time prepping our meals in the kitchen as our mothers, and generations before us have done.
But let’s be honest, do you really have the time that they have with this current society? Most of us as women work outside the home and time is less especially to get home-cooked meals done.
But this gadget has helped me so much, especially with rice, stews, soups, and pasta (my favorite dish to make with this).
I have left rice burning on the stove long enough to know that I needed this pot in my life.
1. Chili
Your instant pot is the best gadget to use when making chili. It can save so much time compared to the stovetop version of it.
I had a stovetop version that I tweaked into an Instant Pot version. I admit I don’t just use one recipe whenever I cook.
I like to tweak more than one recipe to find balance and also based on the ingredients that I have available. My chili has been tweaked from both of these amazing recipes.
You can find this Instant Pot version of the recipe at:
2. Gumbo
I love Gumbo! It’s a constant reminder of my visit to New Orleans back in my college days. I fondly remember the cuisine of this rich state, that I just loved. The food was just rich and oh-so-tasty.
I don’t however like the tedious process when I tried to make this recipe at home (do a roux… what!), however, when the Instant Pot came out, I had to try this recipe. It definitely saved me some time in the kitchen.

3. Spanish Rice
I am Jamaican born and raised if you haven’t identified that about me as yet. So I love my rice and peas dishes, but I also like to switch it up a bit now and again, in between Ghanian (my husband’s culture) rice dishes and Jamaican rice dishes.
So Spanish rice is another favorite rice dish that I love to do, and of course, when the Instant Pot arrived, I also found that version of my dish as well. I hope you’re catching on!

4. Spare Ribs
We love to grill, but we can’t turn the grill on all the time. So whenever I need to have some ribs but don’t want to waste so much time making them, I cheat a bit and use my Instant Pot.
Yes, you can make delicious ribs in your Instant Pot!

5. African Peanut Stew
I love to make peanut butter stew! It’s such a rich dish that is so nutritious and is a kid’s pleaser for sure.
I like to call it “picky eaters” approved! If you struggle with picky eaters, please visit my blog post on:
This is a popular dish in Africa and is a favorite of my husband who is from Ghana. However, I refuse to spend long hours prepping this one dish.
So I found an Instant Pot version of it, and I can also use the same technique to prepare a more traditional version of it as well.
It’s popular in my household, and hubby doesn’t even know the difference, so yeah me!

6. Sausage and Penne Pasta
Whenever I get really good sausages from Costco, I like to peel the thin membrane off and use it to cook pasta dishes. It’s oh-so heavenly!
I like to cook this dish with different types of pasta that I have on hand, so feel free to mix it up a bit.
I also tweak my own recipes, so the recipe that I found does not include pasta sauce. I added the sauce to just enrich the flavor a bit more.

I also like to add a packet of Goya to my pasta dishes to add more flavor and color. Be reminded however that if you do add this packet, DO NOT ADD ANY SALT.
7. Rice
I love to cook my rice in the Instant Pot! It’s so easy to do, and you get the perfect rice all the time.
There is however a technique for getting your rice perfect. It’s called the 1:1 ratio. For every 1 cup of rice, use the same cup that you use to measure the rice and add 1 cup of water. That prevents your rice from becoming too soggy.
The great thing about this recipe is that you don’t get the “burnt bottom” rice if you know what I’m talking about. The traditional way of cooking rice with the not-so-pleasant “burnt bottom” (at least my instant pot will alert me with a burnt signal). So this is perfect for me to use to cook rice quickly and more effectively.
You can also use the Instant Pot for rice and peas and other rice dishes, eg. basmati, long grain rice, and parboil. Just do a “google” search for your specific rice and it’s already done for you.

8. Alfredo
I love to prepare this dish for my family. In fact, it’s an all-time favorite recipe of mine. However, it takes much longer and uses more pots than I like. So when the Instant Pot came out, I dived headfirst into tweaking this dish, so that I could cut back on my dishes and also save so much time.
I tweak my recipes, and I mostly use a jar of alfredo sauce I purchase at Costco or Walmart when I’m short on time. However, you can use heavy cream and parmesan with this recipe that I like below:
As suggested earlier, I also like to add a packet of Goya to my pasta dishes to add more flavor and color. Be reminded however that if you do add this packet, DO NOT ADD ANY SALT.
9. Corn porridge (hominy porridge)
This is a popular dish from my Caribbean culture that is similar to eating oats. Instead of oats, we use corn to make porridge. So, if you are up for an adventure, please try this porridge recipe and let me know what you think.
FYI: we do use condensed milk as a sweetener, so if you don’t want to add a lot of sweet, please tweak it accordingly to your taste preference.

10. Spaghetti
You can’t go wrong with this “old fashion” comfort food. Spaghetti and ground beef or turkey are quite delicious, especially mid-week. I like to prepare this when I am short on time and need to get something cooked quickly for dinner. This is one of our favorite recipes to do at home.
The Instant Pot just adds layers of flavor to this dish that is unlike the traditional way. As always I like to tweak my recipes, but I found a similar recipe to mine.

As mentioned earlier, I also like to add a packet of Goya to my pasta dishes to add more flavor and color. Be reminded however that if you do add this packet, DO NOT ADD ANY SALT.
11. jambalaya
I went back to my New Orleans dishes and I pulled up this Jambalaya Instant Pot recipe that is really easy to do. Try it as well and let me know what you think. I added more rice to my recipe than shown here but it’s totally up to you. I always tweak my recipes based on my ingredients and taste preferences, so don’t be afraid to switch up other recipes to make them your own.

12. Pork Stew
I was having a craving for something warm, like a soup or stew and I came across this recipe for pork stew and decided to try it. Of course, it’s Instant pot approved and I love the addition of so many vegetables that you can just dump into your Instant pot. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Instant Pot is a time saver gadget for me as a mom. I use it frequently to help reduce my stress and daily busyness to a minimum. I can get dinner on the table in record time and still have enough time to do other things.
